A fundamental truth that will persist throughout this book is that growth and comfort cannot coexist. If you are comfortable, you are not growing. If you are growing, you are uncomfortable. Comfortable doesn’t necessarily mean you’re happy or grateful. It simply means that you’ve become accustomed to the way your life is and the thought of changing is far more terrifying than doing what you’ve always done.
When you begin to pay attention to what you are thinking, you can begin to, honestly, evaluate your state of mind and state of being. It is that honest assessment that starts the process toward shifting your life. Living intentionally requires mindfulness, a mental state achieved by focusing your awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting your feelings, thoughts and physical positioning. Action is the language of wisdom. You often hear people referred to as wise because of the knowledge they share or the insight they provide. Knowledge is the accumulation of information. Understanding is the interpretation of information. But it isn’t wisdom until it’s applied.
Attention + Intention + Action = Shift
Join me in exploring how to cause the effects in your life versus responding to what life throws at you. Shift from cause and effect to cause the effect.
The difficulty in applying what sounds like a simple principle is that we can’t build habits into the past. We can only build new habits forward. However, all the things we hold on to are behind us. Every hurt, pain, and broken place in our lives are there because we hold on to them. Not because they hold us. Your ego survives by holding you captive to your limiting beliefs, past hurts or failures, and uncertainty. The “you” that your ego represents is the “you” that you were, not the “you” that you are. Why? Because your ego’s only input comes from your interpretation of your experiences and circumstances. Forgiveness disarms the ego so that you can seek your best self and your highest potential minus the judgment of self and others. It allows you to live in the present, crafting and your future, rather than projecting energy (uselessly) into a past that you can’t change. Forgiveness is an unbalanced force because it defies logic. Forgiveness interrupts the primitive instinct of survival. Forgiveness is a higher vibration and closer to the mind and heart of God.
Keep Calm & Grow Rich: A Guide to Choosing Your Destiny is a thought provoking examination of a single question. Do we choose the outcomes of our lives, or is our life a pre-determined series of random occurrences that takes us to a prescribed destination? Our beliefs, emotions, and behaviors shape how we are perceived by others and ultimately how we perceive ourselves. Developing the ability to control your thoughts and words ultimately impacts your self-image which is the version of you that interacts with the external world. In Keep Calm & Grow Rich: A Guide to Choosing Your Destiny, you will be provided insights and specific techniques to begin to take control of your outcomes (destiny) by taking control of the place where all outcomes originate… our thoughts. After reading this book, you will be equipped and empowered to live above your circumstances, take control of your responses to negativity, and define a life of success, peace, and prosperity for yourself.
